Hi everyone,

I'm considering adopting a Kinixys homeana (Home's hingeback tortoise), and I wanted to hear from anyone in Southern Europe who has experience keeping this species especially outdoors for at least part of the year.
Sprunki Phase 5
I'm based in northern Italy, and while I know this is a tropical forest species that thrives in high humidity and consistent warmth, I'm wondering:

Has anyone here kept K. homeana outdoors during the warmer months (late spring to early fall)?

If so, how did you manage humidity and shade? Did you use misters or greenhouse covers?

Any issues with temperature fluctuations at night, even in summer?

Also, what kind of substrate worked best for you in an outdoor setup?

I'm fully aware they don’t tolerate cold and that indoor winter housing would be necessary, but I’d love to provide an enriching outdoor space when the weather allows. Just want to do it right from the start.

Any tips or photos of your setups would be incredibly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your insights I know this species is sensitive, and I'd love to learn from those with hands-on experience.
